Are you infectious?

People love to work with INFECTIOUS people.

INFECTIOUS people have high energy and a powerful commitment.

You do not need to be an extrovert to be INFECTIOUS.

But, you do need high energy and a powerful commitment.

To have high energy, you must be physically fit for endurance and stamina – and you must be able to monitor and direct your thoughts and your attitude. Face it, people like to work with attractive, positive people. Fit people are more attractive – they just are, no matter what you think about that. People who are strict with their thoughts and attitudes can pick JOY and positive attitudes (what else would you “pick”?).

Both of these things take a great deal of work and maintenance – education and relationship to reality (what’s REALLY happening, not your opinion about what’s happening).

Which is where the powerful commitment comes in.

The work isn’t easy, but if you do it…….success becomes that much easier!

Danielle LaPorte does not know that I am re-posting this. I don’t know her, but BOY would I like to! Ready. It’s pretty long, but it is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ON!!! Frankly, I wish I’d said it myself!

the grand pep talk: decide to rise  (refer to this when in doubt, or sick & tired.)

I’m all for mental health days. And gentleness. And I think the world should take the month of December off. And for the love of God, a 4 day work week would revolutionize the collective human spirit and thusly, healthcare. But this pep talk isn’t about taking it easy, this is about another form of self care: doing whatever it takes.

Just got dumped? Lace up your runners and move your body. Under the weather? Go in to work any way, wearing your favorite sweater. Up to your earrings in deadlines? Go cheer on your friend. Show up at the bake sale. Call your mother. Crying before show time? Put some tea bags on your eyes. Say a prayer. Enter stage left. Push. Turn up the volume. Go hard. Go harder. Re-prioritize your aches and pains. Infuse your sensitivities with courage. Tell fear to fuck right the fuck off. Devote to Done.

There are soul-justified reasons to cancel. There are times to just stop. This isn’t one of them. Keep going. Show up. Full on. Full tilt. Full out. Decide to be one of those people who pull it off.

Do what you say you’re going to do. Don’t let us down. Decide to rise.

Why decide to rise? Not for the reasons you might think. In fact, these are the reasons that will make you sick and tired:

Do not rise out of obligation. Do not rise because of feared consequences. Do not rise because you think being tough makes you smarter (it doesn’t.)

Decide to rise because you want to expand — your being, your life, your possibilities.

Decide to rise because super powers are meant to be activated and applied in everyday life.

Decide to rise to explore your place in the universe.

On the other side of deciding to rise is illumination, ecstasy, insight. And the angel of your strength is there waiting, smiling, applauding, with a goblet of endorphins for you. Drink up.

Patience, grasshopper!

Just when I think nothing is going to happen, I’m not getting any calls back. My WHOLE PIPELINE has gone dark, one unexpected day….it all breaks open.

Opportunities start flowing in like crazy, deals start closing.

But, it’s only because I keep “plodding along”. Caring about each and every deal. Doing the work all-the-way-through. Keeping on my activity plan.

Sales can go from molasses to lava. One minute as slow and cold as you can imagine, the next “HOLY COW, It’s GOING SO FAST!!!”

When I trust the process more than that crazy voice in my head, it all works out. I keep my intention on closing my quota and being #1. No matter what. It all goes that way.

I salute the #1’ers! I know what it takes. From the outside, it looks like luck always comes our way. HA! That’s not how it feels, is it?

STOP doing this NOW!!!

A good friend of mine walked into the car dealership the other day… can smell where this is going already, right?

With her, she had (1) her car (in impeccable condition), (2) a desire for a new car, (3) pink slips, and (4) cash in hand. What salesperson doesn’t LOVE that scenario?

When she sat down with her sales guy she asked what the price was that they were willing to accept for the new car, taking into account her trade.

The deal the sales guy offered was twice what she was willing to pay (of course, she’d done her homework on both her car and the new model).

She said, “That is completely out of the ballpark for what I am willing to pay.”

He said it was the best he could do.

She said, “Thank you.” And walked to her car.

You know the next part, right?

Right! He followed her to her car and revealed that he had made a mistake about the trade-in value of her car. He didn’t realize it was the superior edition, he thought it was the base model. In fact, he could do a couple thousand better.

Well, this was just a flat-out lie. She was sitting with the salesperson when he pulled up her VIN number with all the details about her car. When she pointed that out, he claimed the VIN number doesn’t give that information (but indeed it does).

His offer still wasn’t close. And now she was FURIOUS! The story gets worse, but – sadly – it’s one we all know! We EXPECT this at a dealership. We EXPECT this from salespeople.

So, here’s the thing….STOP behaving this way. If you are in sales, I don’t care what it takes, leave your job, bring dignity and honesty and take a risk in the job you currently have, do SOMETHING NEW. If you are playing games with your customers, you MUST STOP NOW.

If you’re not careful, sales is going to get a bad reputation! (*wink*)

Truth is. You make WAY more money on the truth. This guy could have been courteous. Even asked her what her number was. Then, told her straight if they could do that or not. Then he could say straight what he was willing to do.

Salespeople feel frustrated that buyers come in with a number that doesn’t leave them room for a profit.

I promise you two things. First, buyers do this because they have been treated badly for decades. (Also, not all buyers do this). Second, if you’re straight with people and get them what they want, you WILL make money and your customers will send EVERYONE to you. Slam dunk city!

Wicked cool insight today!

Sunday afternoon — updating my Contact Management System (ugh).

I started doing follow up with people I have NOT been able to reach.

Turns out busy, motivated people are online on Sunday afternoons and my email isn’t mashed up against meetings and deadlines!

I got ONE response from someone who’d gone totally dark – she was so excited to hear from me! Turns out she’s making a proposal to her boss tomorrow about my service and was glad I reached out because she needed a bit of information for her presentation. I haven’t heard from her SINCE DECEMBER!!!! Coincidence? Hmmmm…

Then, I got a presentation scheduled with someone I’ve been trying to reach for over a month. MAGICAL!!!

Who knew? Perhaps you already DID know this. Please don’t keep these secrets to yourself anymore!!!

Yesterday, I commented on the perfection and eye to detail that Quentin Tarantino pays to his Kung Fu movies.

The comments were spot on. People rarely practice excellence anymore – they just “do what it takes to get it done”.

Which is good and bad news for you –  because if all you do is practice excellence you will stand out head and shoulders above the crowd. (That’s the good news).

Here’s the bad news – your ENVIRONMENT isn’t practicing excellence which is going to require YOU to push yourself even harder.
